With the EasyAngle we differentiate the upper cervical movements (including the head movements) and the lower cervical movements, which are limited to the cervical spine (from C1 to C7). In this video, we guide you in the assessment of upper cervical lateral (side) flexion.

The patient/client should be sitting, with feet resting on the floor. This position will help stabilize the pelvis, assuring no accessory movements are made. Use a chair with high support in order to eliminate movements in the lower segments of the spine. The spine should at the start be in the neutral position, meaning no side flexion, rotation, or flexion. The therapist can additionally, stabilize the spine by applying manual pressure to the sides of the shoulders. The hands of the client are resting by his/her body.
Stand by the side, observing the patient from left or right. Place the device against the head, posteriorly against the head, with a screen facing the therapist. The device is positioned vertically in the frontal plane. Start the measurement, and let the client perform the cervical extension, and end the measurement.
