„Communism tour” is a hit with our Norwegian guests, to whom we have been organising tailor-made trips to Poland for 9 years. We call this tour the time machine, and we have to book dates for it in advance. It is the second most frequently selected attraction by groups travelling to Kraków with us. In first place is a trip to the famous Wieliczka salt mine, and in third place is a visit to the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Thanks to the „Communism tour”, you will learn about the history of communist Poland, but above all you will be entertained to the point of tears. The scenario of the tour is slightly different each time, as our crazy guides do not like boredom and love to improvise. You will already be surprised by their costumes. One thing is constant - we always go to Nowa Huta, one of the most famous communist districts in the world, in vintage communist cars.
The destination of our tour is no accident. Nowa Huta was an ideal communist city built for workers in the neighbourhood of intellectual Krakow. To this day, it still delights architects all over the world.
During the tour, we always stop at an original communist-era bar - for a short story about communist Poland and - of course - for a drink. Anyway, no one will be short of drinks on this tour...
The hit of the tour is a visit to the atomic bomb shelters from the so-called Cold War era. The shelters are located in the former communist Lenin steelworks, the largest in communist Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The steelworks employed 10,000 people, the plant was so massive that it had hundreds of kilometres of roads and railway tracks!
We also always visit the extraordinary office buildings of the steelworks, which look like original Italian palaces. Not only are there the original communist offices, but even grand ballrooms! The unbelievable grandeur of the communists is still impressive today, although of course few people in Poland miss those times. It is a good thing that they have passed and that today we can talk about them with laughter.
If you take a look at our short film story, which includes footage from several different trips, you will get a foretaste of what travelling in our time machine is like! It really is worth it! ;)

Kommunisme-turné. Tidsmaskinen til det kommunistiske Polen! Kraków. Nowa Huta.
Du vil allerede bli overrasket over kostymene deres.
