2. SOUNDBITE (English) Col. Brandon Anderson, 2nd infantry division deputy commanding officer for manoeuvre:
"Everything we are doing right now is defensive in nature. We are not being offensive but defensive in nature. As I mentioned earlier, this is strictly a training event, we do it twice a year. We are going to continue to do it. It is what we expect to do in conflict and to be good at it, which I think everybody in South Korea and the world wants us to be good at it. We have to train at it."

STORYLINE:
South Korea and the U.S held a live fire exercise on Wednesday in Pocheon on Wednesday.
The drills took place as a part of the annual Freedom Shield Exercise.
Deputy Commanding Officer for manoeuvre, Col. Brandon Anderson emphasized that the drills were defensive in nature and added that they will continue to hold them to improve performance.
On the same day, North Korea launched multiple missiles toward the sea, South Korea’s military said, three days after the North carried out what it called a simulated nuclear attack on South Korea.
The launches are the North’s fourth round of weapons tests since the U.S. and South Korean militaries last week began the large-scale military drills that the North views as an invasion rehearsal.
