50 years ago, on June the 14th 1968, Robin Knox Johnston set sail from Falmouth.
On his epic voyage he feared attack by sharks, faced mountainous seas in the southern ocean, was missing for almost 4 months and had appendicitis.
Against all odds, the Portsmouth sailor returned to Falmouth 10 and a half months later a hero.
To mark this unique anniversary, Neil Sackley has been talking to Sir Robin.
First broadcast on BBC Radio Solent, 14 June 2018.
