The 2024 BMW X2 has arrived in Australia, with the second-generation coupe-style small SUV sporting an expanded line-up, headlined by the all-new fully electric iX2, which has the popular Volvo C40 firmly in its proverbial sights. It's a similar formula to the more traditionally wagon-shaped X1 and iX1, upon which the pair is based.
That means the X2 is available in entry-level sDrive20i and M35i xDrive performance flagship forms, while the iX2 is offered in keenly priced eDrive20 and xDrive30 variants. Point being, there's plenty of choice for premium small SUV buyers who are style focused.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Deputy News Editor John Law gets behind the wheel of the new X2 and iX2 at the pair's local media launch to find out how well they measure up against their stiff competition. But more importantly, he identifies the pick of the line-up for those who can be swayed between a petrol or electric powertrain.
