The devastating floods in Assam took a major toll on the wildlife in the state. Assam is home to the famous Kaziranga National Park, which houses a number of species of wild animals and plants.
According to Dr Rathin Barman, the Joint Director of the Rescue Centre, about 57 animals were rescued from the devastating floods that submerged 90% of the park. 37 have been treated and released.
He shared that the frequency of such floods has increased over the years. As of the 21st of July, 116 animals including 11 rhinos have lost their lives in the Assam floods.
