This is not a saxophone video, my apologies.
My girlfriend and I built this boat over the winter and have been enjoying it a LOT since we first started sailing it in June. A few people have asked to see a video about it so I figured I would make a quick/unplanned one and put it up.
If you are coming here because you searched for the Northeaster Dory, the FAQs are usually like this, in case it helps:
1. How hard was it to build?
Not bad. The manual is a little fuzzy in some areas but there is a large forum on the CLC site as well as a group on facebook, and in my experience if you call CLC with a technical question you get an answer fast. I might not have this project be the first time I ever worked with my hands, but if you can say build a bookshelf you will be fine.
2. How long does it take to build?
I see retirees get them done and on the water in a month and a half. We did it in about 7 months? or so of partial nights and weekends.
3. How does it sail?
Pretty great. Can really move, especially with 2 or less people onboard, although I think the fastest we have gone was with 4 people on board and I dipped a gunnel in 20+mph winds. She's a sturdy thing. A bit tippy at rest if you are used to wider/keeled boats but stabilizes fast as it heels over. Does fine in moderate wind, and when the wind dies it rows well, with little resistance and a long glide. Holds a lot of gear. Also nice to be able to hand-carry to a launch, if you have two people- it weighs maybe 130lbs with spars and sail and daggerboard and rudder and basic gear in it. You can unload it and its more like 100lbs. I wouldn't want to swamp it, looks nearly impossible to bail if you are in heavy weather, see here: [ Ссылка ]
