프랑스 베르사유 궁전…대대적 보수 마쳐
Versailles is gleaming again after three years of delicate yet massive renovation.
The Royal Chapel in France has regained the former glory from when King Louis XIV lived there.
The palace's golden roof and windows and sophisticated statues had been exposed to the elements since the building was finished in 1634.
The restoration took more than 100 workers and 450-thousand sheets of gold leaf gilding.
The work was also completed leaving more than 90 percent of the original framework in place.
"For us, for the Chateau de Versailles, it will remain the renovation work of the century because, symbolically, to have the original gilding back it's something very emotional."
He added that the King wanted this chapel to bring together all the arts,... to heighten his soul and the souls of those around him.
He also said, it was not an easy task as two years of study was needed to restore the castle where the King held court.
