The Elmendorf Tear Tester is used to test the tearing strength of fabrics. It is a pendulum tearing method, which determines the tearing resistance of fabric or paper by measuring the force value of a pendulum falling down at a certain starting height and tearing the textile sample or paper sample after converting all the potential energy into kinetic energy.
