The City of Long Beach extends the COVID-19 health order to May15, 2020. This includes continuing to stay at home and practice social distancing and protection. Mayor Robert Garcia implements stricter rules for businesses, essential workers, and the public to wear masks when in public places, such as grocery stores, restaurants and drug stores. New rules for establishments include, employees wearing masks during their shifts, washing hands every 30 minutes and providing hand sanitizer in heavy traffic areas. As Easter approaches this weekend, the City wants to remind residents that all parks continue to stay closed to further flatten the curve. The Long Beach Police Department will enforce this health order to gain compliance. Los Angeles County Supervisor, Janice Hahn discusses the partnership with Los Angeles County and the City of Long Beach in providing COVID-19 drive-thru testing sites for the community. Anyone interested must make an appointment and complete the screening process. A free grocery program in LA County is available for residents ages 60+ and individuals with disabilities.
