This double bill of two short operas features tragedy and comedy. Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo is the famous and poignant tale of Canio who must play the clown and make people laugh even as he himself is suffering.
The second half of the evening is the light-hearted story by Puccini about a family fighting over the final will of their recently deceased patriarch only to be outwitted by the clever and scheming Gianni Schicchi.
