How to change the carbide tips in your BAV-CB crusher bucket. Most users get through very few tooth tips, probably only five or six per year.
However, if you have worn or broken tips, you do ideally want to swap them out for new items as soon as possible, in order to maintain crushing penetration and performance.
Safety first: Wear correct PPE: glasses/goggles, gloves and safety shoes/boots.
Removal: By far the easiest way is to drive old tips out from behind, as shown in this video, using a bar or drift.
Replacement: Line new tip up with the tool holder and use a soft mallet - copper, wood or rubber - to drive it home. DO NOT use a steel or iron hammer or mallet for this part, or you will shatter the tip.
For tips where the above removal method is not possible, you will need to use a flat edge, such as a crowbar, to prize and lever the tip out from the front.
