Hi Friends! Recently the powerhead connected with the top filter of one of our home aquariums just stopped working. So I and my Dad went to local pet store and got this powerhead. In this video, you will learn exactly how to install a powerhead in aquarium. And also, how to connect it with your top filter.
Whether or not you are about to place a powerhead in your aquarium. Who knows, knowing the whole installation process might spark some new ideas for your own home aquarium. And at least, as a fishkeeper you will get to know about something interesting. So make sure to stick around till the end and let's get started!
Step-1: Assembly of all parts. Since I already had all the parts of powerhead attached by default, I didn't have to worry much. However, that necessarily may not be in your case. Some parts are detached and then reattached in the video to illustrate you clearly the accessories of the powerheads. As you can see there is a suction cup that is used to hang the powerhead on the aquarium glass surface.
The suction makes the powerhead stick on the surface. There is also a blue hose pipe which is used to pump water. While the air tube pipe is used for aeration. The powerhead serves mainly three purposes: Circulation, Aeration and Filtration in the aquarium. As air is released from the powerhead it comes out of its nozzle in the form of jet stream of air.
This in turn, creates a water flow in the aquarium. Although not all fish like heavy water flow, there are some that will enjoy swimming and playing around that water flow all day long. Now, as you can see we are attaching the pipes and doing all the minor adjustments and setup so that our powerhead becomes ready to work properly and start its action!
Step-2: Attaching the powerhead on the aquarium glass. While doing the powerhead installation, you will have to attach the suction cups of the powerhead on the aquarium glass surface so that it can remain stable in its place.
Step-3: Adjusting the pipes and electrical outlets of powerhead. Here we are connecting the powerhead with our top filter. So based on that and depending on the space available, we are adjusting the pipe placements.
In your situation, based on how you are going to utilize the powerhead in your aquarium, you will have to make the placement and adjustments accordingly. While connecting the electrical outlets of the powerhead, be a little a careful and maintain proper safety measures.
Step-4: Final powerhead placement, adjustments, and turning on the power. As you can see we are connecting the blue hose pipe with the pipe of top filter.
This way when the powerhead pumps the water, it will pass through the blue hose pipe and it will enter into the top filter's pipe. The top filter's pipe has many small holes through which the water will then pass through the filter layer and finally it will get filtered through the top filter and will enter back to the aquarium.
This cycle will keep on repeating and filtration process happens this way. Now after doing few adjustments of the powerhead setup in the aquarium, we are turning on the power so that the powerhead can start working and you can see the action!
