Did you know that Spain Empire was at some point almost 11% of the world's land surface.
Video Transcript:
These are all the countries that Spain has ever invaded. It started small with colonizing the Canary Islands and it all seemed quite innocent. But the desire for the riches of the unknown was strong. As you probably know Spanish managed to colonize almost the entire Central and South America. The only exceptions are Brazil, French Guayana, Suriname, and a few Caribbean islands. At its greatest extent, the Spanish Empire held possession of a big part of today’s USA and Canada. But that wasn’t all. Spain has also invaded The Philippines, Palau, Micronesia, and more Oceanic Islands. Asia luckily escaped the Spanish colonization desires. Meanwhile, in Africa, Spain invaded Morocco, Western Sahara, and Equatorial Guinea, which is the only African country that speaks Spanish today. Lastly in Europe, it once had influence in Southern Italy, together with today’s Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and a small part of France.
