It’s *almost* the new year, and that means it’s time to update my financial plan.
Dennis and I are self-employed, and we decided to keep our salary the same this year, so that means we’ll be making $4,459.91/month each again this year.
I’ll invest $2,000/month, and spend from the other $2,459.91/month.
I’m sticking to the same investing strategy, which involves taking a DIY approach with a self-directed investment platform. I purchase ETFs within my registered investment accounts (like the TFSA, FHSA and RRSP).
On the spending side of things, I’ve adjusted my budget categories - here’s the overview:
➡️ Rent - $970.00
➡️ Internet - $36.72
➡️ Utilities - $30.00
➡️ Groceries - $325.00
➡️ Restaurants - $150.00
➡️ Coffee Shops - $50.00
➡️ Public Transportation - $50.00
➡️ Massage Therapist - $146.50
➡️ Personal Care - $100.00
➡️ Subscriptions - $14.34
➡️ Other - $586.95
My biggest spending-related goal is to bring down my total spending - last year, I spent about $32,000, and this year, I want to spend $30,000 or less (outside of any travel related expenses…).
