There is one study comparing rosemary oil (at an undetermined dilution) against minoxidil for hair growth. This study showed that rosemary oil was just as effective as minoxidil over a six-month period.
However, rosemary oil marketers fail to mention that hair count improvements from rosemary oil in that study was cosmetically insignificant. Furthermore, the study compared rosemary oil against 2% minoxidil, which is much less effective than the 5% dilution of minoxidil commonly used to fight hair loss.
