This video tutorial of CIVTAK 4.0 demostrates how to import SRTM or DTED into ATAK.
It also briefly covers the use of the elevation heat map and the Red X.
And this is a rough cut - there's a bug in the interaction between the Red X and toggling the heatmap which you see here (and it won't be fixed in this release).
