British Military commanders are assessing the results of a second night of allied air strikes against Libya, as the Government sought to play down claims that Arab support for the action is waning. A building in Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli was among the targets hit as British, United States and French forces continued to pound the regime's air defences. The allies said that the strike had disabled the control facility, the government in Libya said it was proof that the air campaign was not about protecting civillians at all, that civillians were in danger, some missiles missing residents by 50 metres. The British element of the international action against Libya has been named Operation Ellamy.
