It's quite unusual for the ultra reliable Maxon chassis used in these sets to have any PLL issues. However, to cut a long story short, the synthesiser chip LC7136 was faulty. Apart from that & a new TX LED, that was about it. Reluctant TX switching was a dirty PA switch, which I simple operated about 20 times & normal operation was resumed. Radio was doing 2.9W & the service alignment brought that up to a full 4W.
