The 12041/ 12042 New Jalpaiguri (NJP)- Howrah (HWH)- New Jalpaiguri (NJP) SHATABDI Express is by far the most aggressive train connecting North Bengal with the State Capital, and is the only Diesel hauled train in India to touch 130 km/hr. The train maintains a very aggressive schedule, and even a slight issue makes the train's schedule go haywire, as witnessed here.
Due to some Interlocking work at Rampurhat station, the 12042 New Jalpaiguri (NJP)- Howrah (HWH) SHATABDI was diverted Via the slower New Farakka - Azimganj- Katwa- Bandel- Howrah route. And seen here is the train cruising past Tribeni station (On the Katwa- Bandel stretch) at a moderate speed, running late by more than 2 hours. Loco in charge was 20004 SGUJ WDP- 4 in lead.
In the second video of the compilation, the pairing 12041 Howrah (HWH)- New Jalpaiguri (NJP) SHATABDI Express, running more than 3 hours late, speeds at 130+ km/hr through Madhusudanpur station on the train's original route, trying its best to recover some lost time. The loco in charge, 20003 SGUJ WDP- 4 in lead, raises a mini dust storm through the station, forcing me and the other people to close their eyes. This was one of the fastest diesel action witnessed by me ever.
The train follows the Howrah- Burdwan- Bolpur Shantiniketan- Rampurhat- New Farakka- Malda Town- Barsoi- Kishanganj- New Jalpaiguri route.
