Harbor Freight's Predator 3500 watt Inverter Generator claims to be 'Super Quiet'. The box says the generator is only 57 dB, and the instructions further clarify that as 57 decibels at 23 feet with 25% load. I decided to test this claim out using a sound level meter. The results are spectacular. Not only is the generator as quiet, but it beat its rated sound output by being only 55 decibels at 23 feet.
I'm very impressed with this generator thus far. I hope it holds up, because it is an amazing value at this point - 25 hours in.
I was even more amazed to discover that this Predator 3500 watt Inverter Generator creates less noise than my super quiet Sportsman 1000 watt portable inverter generator. Amazing that it can produce 3000 running watts and create less noise than a generator that makes 900 running watts.
