Welcome to Episode 50! I can hardly believe we’ve made it this far—woohoo! Now, let's all agree to forgive those first 30 episodes, shall we? Editing was a mystery back then, and I was basically flying blind! Hopefully, by now, you can see some progress—not just in the videos, but in the actual renovation, too!
For those just joining, our pool project has been quite the journey. We’ve finally removed the old structure and prepped for the new, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! So, kick back and enjoy as we dive into creating our dream pool… finally. Thanks for sticking with us on this ride!
The frame, made from reo bar and mesh, is tailored to match our exact design requirements. Bamboo (or cane) is added for reinforcement, boosting durability and giving the structure impressive strength—although, we admit, it does have a bit of a tiki bar aesthetic at this stage! The next stage – weather dependent is the shotcrete (wet concrete) is applied, the combination of steel, bamboo, and concrete results in a pool that’s incredibly sturdy and eco-friendlier too.
We chose this type of pool because it allows for a fully customized design to suit our needs. Plus, we wanted to avoid dealing with a pool liner or having a pre-built pool awkwardly craned over the fence. Surprisingly, the cost wasn’t significantly different from the alternatives, so we’re thrilled to have a solution tailored perfectly for us.
