There are now more foodbanks than McDonald’s in this country. Meanwhile, we create over 500 million tonnes of carbon each day with the food and drink we consume. These are just two of the challenges facing our food system. For the sake of those going hungry and of those impacted by climate change, we need to tackle these issues urgently.
Yet the picture is far from simple. Food poverty and supply chain sustainability are bound up with government policy, the welfare system, business decisions, farmers’ needs and manufacturers’ priorities. So how do we tackle these complex problems in ways that get to the root of the issue?
This third webinar in our sustainability series features a panel of experts working at the sharp end of our food supply chains, foodbanks and as advisors to government.
The discussion focuses on the future of food sustainability, outlining what social and environmental justice looks like in the food system.
