Country formation from Driebergen around the 3 Sommer brothers, who scored some big hits in the mid-seventies and who have a warm heart for the traditional country and western. The group even performs in the country music mecca: Nashville. Sommerset focuses more on pure pop from 1980 and falls apart soon after. In 1975 starts with the single "Almost Persuaded" which follows in the wake of the Tumbleweeds success "Somewhere Between". Like Tumbleweeds, the success takes them to Nashville, where they get to perform.
In 1976 Sommerset managed to remain successful with the singles "Another Lonely Night" and "There Goes My Everything". The album Sommerset also sells very well and peaks at 24th position in the album list. However, the problems presented themselves when singer Rosina Lauwaars founded the group Harmony together with Ab van Woudenberg at the end of the year and left Sommerset.
In 1977 - 1978 Guus Paat and Pim Fuchs left the band (they both go to Souvenir) and when Ernst Makily also called it quits, the end seemed near for Sommerset. Nevertheless, at the end of the year the group will have a stable line-up again, namely the three Sommer brothers, ex-Matchpoint singer Astrid Marz (later Astrid Paris), guitarist Ron Kuster and his bass-playing brother Ricardo. Rosina Lauwaars and Ab van Woudenberg, who together with Donald Lieveld form the trio Harmony, will be broadcasted to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "'t Is Okay", where they take thirteenth place.
