In September 2010 David Ravelo was detained and remanded in custody; presently he is accused of the aggravated murder of David Núñez Cala, a member of local government in Barrancabermeja who was murdered in April 1991. David Ravelo maintains his innocence in respect of these charges. The Prosecutor number 22, of the Counter Terrorism Unit, William Pacheco Granados, who prosecuted and remanded David Ravelo in custody, was previously dismissed from his post as a police lieutenant, by the of Human Rights delegate of Inspector General´s Office , because of his involvement in the forced disappearance of a youth. His appointment as a prosecutor may be invalid.
