Ría Lagartos Natural Park is mostly known for its beautiful beaches, pink lakes and pink birds. When you arrive to the national park, your first stop will be Ría Lagartos, a cute village where you can take a break after the two hour drive from Valladolid.
The only other village in the national park is Las Coloradas where you can find the man made pink lakes where salt is harvested. There's not much going on in the small town apart from a vendor selling his tacos on the sidewalk.
The area is a perfect getaway from organised tourism on the Yucatan peninsula.
