Episode 204 of Love At First Scent

This episode was a review of the new Louis Vuitton Pur Oud, composed by Jacques Cavallier. We also found some time to mention YSL M7, the 2002 creation from Cavallier and Alberto Morillas.

Here's the blotter update:

- Right to the end, Pur Oud successfully presents all the paradoxes and contradictions inherent in oud: soft vs granite-like; silent vs loud; aggressive vs laid-back. It is fiendishly expensive, but that aside, it is quite heart-stoppingly beautiful. I've also enjoyed revisiting M7. What a gem this was, contrasting the sparkle of that bergamot opening with cedar and incense, as well as a use of musks that is never overdone. I'm tempted to give it a few wearings this summer.
