Over the years, South Park has made a lot of iconic episodes, a couple of questionable ones, and TWO that made fans fear the show was getting canceled because they were so serious.
Episodes Seven and Eight of Season 15 follow Stan as he battles depression. They’re rough. Personally, I just have to admit the truth: these two episodes touched me HARDER than Jared from Subway did with those boys.
13 years later, and this two-episode arc is still the best depiction of depression on TV. If you have never experienced depression, f*ck you! (use south park footage where they say these words) Who gave you the right to be so lucky?
Before getting to the episodes, I want you to imagine a thousand bugs buzzing around your head while you try to sleep after a long day. You try to smack them dead but you keep missing. Finally, you get one. Congratulations! There’s now 999 left. And they’re giving birth. That’s kinda what it feels like to have depression.
