IDH launches the world’s first Verified Sourcing Areas (VSAs): a new market mechanism that rewards regions where public and private stakeholders work together to address environmental, social and economic sustainability in one approach. VSAs provide an answer to pressing issues like deforestation, smallholder livelihoods, water- and pesticides use. VSAs go beyond farm-by-farm certification and single product solutions, but stimulates regions in working towards inclusive green growth. We expect to launch a VSA in both Brazil, as well as in Indonesia. Connecting responsible commodity production to international demand, and turning global company commitments into green, inclusive growth. Regions in Liberia, Kenya, Vietnam and other countries will follow soon.
