Young animals in the African savannah face many challenges in their journey to independence. Each species—whether it’s the cautious cheetah cubs learning to hunt, the lion cub struggling with a broken back, or the adventurous meerkats—learns survival through play, training, and instinct. Their survival depends on their mothers, clans, or, like elephant calves, the support of an entire herd. These young nomads must learn hunting skills, social behaviors, and basic survival instincts. The savannah presents constant dangers, from predators like hyenas to scarce resources, making the path to adulthood both a harsh and formative journey.
A film by Stéphane Goldschmidt, Eric Gonzalez, Guillaume Maidatchevsky and Marie Pilhan
