We have for sale this little pocket rocket of a rally car. £9,950.
An ex 'Trofeo Abarth' Series 2 Autobianchi A112 prepared to Group 1 specification. Armed with a potent little 982cc Abarth engine that has been very well prepared.
The eager Abarth engine coupled with the sharp handling ensures these little beasts will happily eat up the competition in the 'Up To 1000cc' catagory.
This particular A112 started life as an early Series 2 Elegant.
It was originally prepared for competiton by Francesco Bacci, who's company, Bacci Romano now make some of the best race and rally gearboxes in historic racing.
After Mr Bacci, the car was next used in anger by Alberto Borghi, the very same racing driver that built the little green Gr.1 Abarth 70hp we sold earlier in 2013.
In 2008 Mr Borghi prepared the car and fully rebuilt the engine for Group 1 competition under Homologation Form Number 5518, and thus obtaining the FIA Historical Technical Passport.
The car was subsequently raced by Alberto in numerous Hill Climbs throughout Italy, winning many events and notching up a fearsome reputation in events such as Camucia Cortona, Coppa Del Cimino and the Coppa Del Chianti Classico amongst many others.
It then passed hands to a long term friend of Mr Borghi, Mario Mazzolenis.
Mario made further preparations with the addition of a new rally suspension set up, sump guard and rally spotlights.
These alterations were made in order to compete in historic rallies as apposed to hill climbs.
The next event, which happened to be the last, was in 2011 at the Rally Elba Storici on the schedule of the 2011 Trofeo A112 Abarth competition.
Now it's in stock here at Targa Florio Classics.
This Gr.1 Autobianchi is just itching to get dirty and earn it's stripes on a forest stage somewhere with the kind of flat-out driving it's been built for. All the while being egged on by the Banshee like scream of a genuine Abarth engine at high revs.
