Hey Stone Heads! Max here, fresh off a deep dive into Rolling Stones history! Today's history lesson takes us back to a pivotal moment in rock and roll – April 23rd, 1963! Can you believe it? That's the day The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, two soon-to-be legendary bands, met for the very first time!
Now, the setting wasn't some fancy award show or a packed stadium. It all went down at a little, legendary London club called the Crawdaddy Club. The Stones were actually the house band there at the time, playing some electrifying R&B sets that were attracting quite the following.
The story goes that The Beatles, already buzzing with their early hits, swung by the Crawdaddy to check out the Stones. Talk about a meeting of the minds (or should I say riffs?) Who knew this night would mark the beginning of a friendly rivalry that would push both bands to new heights!
The Crawdaddy Club itself was a hotbed of early British rock and roll. Before The Stones and The Beatles graced the stage, other legends like Long John Baldry and even a young Ray Davies (before The Kinks!) cut their teeth there.
