When Labour was in opposition, Lisa Nandy was critical of the Conservative government's attempts to build closer ties with China on human rights grounds.
Asked if her position had changed - especially with Chancellor Rachel Reeves heading to China - the now culture secretary said it had not.
She told Sky News that "we believe it's perfectly possible" to challenge China on important issues, while also keeping the UK economy competitive.
