Thierry Henry scored twice to claim the Premiership's Golden Boot award as Arsenal finished their Double season with victory over Everton.

Highbury was treated to a seven-goal exhibition - but the highlight of the day for the Gunners' faithful was the presentation of the Premiership trophy after the final whistle.

There were also emotional send-offs for Lee Dixon and goalkeeping coach Bob Wilson, who were both ending their long Arsenal careers.

With Everton safe and the Gunners having won both the league title and FA Cup, the match meant nothing and it was a party time in north London.

The atmosphere filtered through to the players from both sides as the game was strewn with defensive errors.

Arsenal eventually won because Everton had the weaker of two poor backlines.

Everton set the tone for the first half in the third minute as Alan Stubbs allowed Ashley Cole to prod the ball across goal for Dennis Bergkamp, who fired home from eight yards.

But in the 19th minute Everton equalised as Igor Stepanovs gifted the ball to Tomasz Radzinski who found Lee Carsley and the midfielder steered an excellent right-foot effort past Richard Wright.

In the 30th minute it was the other half of Wenger's Eastern European central defensive combination who presented Everton with a goal.

Oleg Luzhny - who had earlier required goalkeeper Wright to bail him out after an error - allowed Radzinski to turn him near the half-way line and the Canadian sprinted clear of Dixon before slotting a shot past Wright.

Everton's lead lasted just two minutes before Stubbs made his second mistake of the half.

The former Celtic defender tripped over and allowed Bergkamp the chance to slip a pass to Henry who knocked the ball into an open goal.

A disappointing second half finally warmed up in the 71st minute as Henry, on the right of the penalty area, chested down a brilliant diagonal pass from Edu and stroked home his 23rd league goal.

That was enough to make him the top flight's leading scorer ahead of Alan Shearer, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Francis Jeffers - on as a substitute against his old club - nodded home at the far post from Henry's cross.

There was still time for a last goal, as Everton's Steve Watson drifted in from the right and unleashed a left-foot drive past reserve keeper Stuart Taylor - on as a substitute to gain his 10th appearance of the season and therefore a champions' medal.
