🎾 BOXING DRILL FOR HAND EYE COORDINATION & SPEED🎾
What:
👉🏽With your back hand, throw the ball out in front of you within jabbing distance
👉🏽Step into your jab, full extension on the arm
👉🏽Squeeze the ball with a nice tight fist, like you would have with a punch
👉🏽Build good defense habits, drive that ball throwing arm back to your chin
🥊NOW THE BACK HAND
👉🏽Same rules above apply for the cross........
👉🏽Little bit more rotation required from the back foot/hip to throw a good Cross
🤷🏼♀️Why?
This drill is so good for hand eye coordination, and getting that target. Hugely important in Boxing. It also teaches us how to stay loose and relaxed as boxers. If we’re tensing up and squeezing our fists when there’s no punch happening, we are tiring ourselves out for no reason. Learn to stay loose until the punch is coming out. Also great for hand speed, the faster we can snatch this ball, the faster we can pick off those punches. As well as those it’ll also drill the basics of how a punch should feel, coz we don’t have a bag or mitts to punch, it helps us to focus on how the body should feel during a punch (rotating and extending arms etc) Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
