Chinese President Xi Jinping is leaving Macau after inaugurating the city’s sixth-term government. Ahead of his December 20, 2024, departure, Xi officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for new city leader Sam Hou-fai and 10 top officials. During his three-day visit, Xi also visited the Macau University of Science and Technology and the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The former Portuguese-run city is celebrating 25 years since it was returned to Chinese administration.
