All-new Toyota Baby Lunar Cruiser Concept SUV New Features FJ40
Toyota celebrated the 50th anniversary of its California-based design studio by unveiling the innovative All-new Toyota Baby Lunar Cruiser concept. This imaginative SUV concept envisions a vehicle for lunar exploration, igniting anticipation for the upcoming 'baby LandCruiser.
Taking inspiration from the classic FJ40 Land Cruiser, the electric Moon Rover draws from the design elements of the real Lunar Cruiser Toyota is working on in collaboration with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency.
The FJ40 was once Toyota’s best-selling vehicle in the US, known for its durability and off-road capabilities.
There’s no mistaking that the electric Toyota baby lunar Cruiser borrows from the rugged 4×4, but it’s built for a different era. The Moon Rover is propelled by in-wheel electric motors and controlled by joysticks. Meanwhile, airless tires make it easy to move around.
While adventuring, you won’t miss any sights with a glass canopy and a panoramic, augmented reality dashboard display.
The front "Toyota" badge shares a resemblance with the emblem seen on the Nissan Surf-Out electric pickup concept. Moreover, it boasts a comprehensive suite of cameras, as well as lidar and radar sensors. To add to its practicality, the Moon Cruiser includes a split tailgate configuration in the rear.
Inside, the Toyota Baby Lunar Cruiser offers adaptable spaceframe seating arrangements, a sizable single-panel display, and M.O.L.L.E panels integrated throughout the interior.
Toyota is not the sole traditional automaker engaged in the creation of an electric Lunar Cruiser. Hyundai Motor initiated the development of an autonomous rover earlier this year, and Nissan disclosed its intentions to design a Lunar Terrain Vehicle for forthcoming NASA missions to the moon.
