The Queensland government has handed Virgin Australia a $200 million boost as the airline battles for survival.
The relief package was offered on the condition Virgin maintained its Queensland headquarters where 5500 people were employed.
The offer falls short of the $1.4 billion the airline was seeking to survive the coronavirus crisis.
The Palaszczuk Government said she hoped the bid would entice other states to provide an assistance package to the struggling airline.
Chinese government airlines are reportedly considering an offer to buy Virgin Australia to prevent the carrier's collapse.
