The Chennai Police Crime Branch-Crime Investigative Department (CB-CID) has arrested two policemen on murder charges in connection with the alleged custodial death of Vignesh.
The two arrested police officials, identified as Munaf and Ponraj, were booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Friday night, based on the autopsy report of the 25-year-old deceased.
The Vignesh custodial death case was transferred to the CB-CID by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin after allegations were raised against police officials and their attempts to cover up the alleged custodial death.
