I’m planting a grass called Vetiver around my Earthen ponds. I really wanted to have fish ponds that are environmentally friendly. Zambia often has heavy rainfall and this grass will apparently prevent excess soil erosion. Being in the outdoors and getting stuck in is therapeutic. These ponds are all on the water table so working here in the rain season is 10 times harder. The grass is also keeping and giving shelter and supporting other wildlife like frogs, worms, snails, snakes and water insects. Birds love coming here to find food and some come for the fish.
