Kerwood is an eclectic pop-rock band, fusing not only the styles of funk, blues, folk, and classic rock, but also utilizing instruments from all over the world as part of a high energy, high impact show. The music, written primarily by frontman Dave Kerwood, shows how every moment of a Christian life, from beautiful memories and hilarious moments to hard questions and impossible decisions, can point toward the hope found in Jesus.
The band formed in 2016 as the quartet of Dave Kerwood (vocals, guitar), Casey Rush (vocals, bass), Caleb Lackey (vocals, guitar), and Jeff May (drums, percussion). They released their first 7-track EP, "Lovelight," in 2017. After a brief hiatus, Kerwood became a solo act during the 2020 Pandemic, releasing "The NEW Project" in seven monthly installments. In 2022, the band was reborn with Dave Kerwood on vocals, guitar, and a cadre of other instruments, Gene Richardson on bass, vocals, and percussion, and Bill Cropek on drums and percussion.
The band has been blessed to share the stage with national acts Finding Favour, Building 429, and Colton Dixon, as well as regional acts such as Adelaide, The Lasting Hope, and Odds of An Afterthought. With the versatility to move effortlessly between large-scale rock shows and intimate coffeeshop-style acoustic performances, the band has truly carved out their own niche in the midwest Christian music scene.
