The serene Vembanad lake with floating houseboats, and crisscrossing canals lined with beautiful coconut trees make for a plot straight out of a painting. But not everyone knows how to experience it the best way. Because Alleppey is much beyond the houseboats. In this article, I take you through my experiences of the great backwaters of Alleppey and share tips on how to experience them the best way.
