The Daily Telegraph journalist Tim Blair reacts to footage of an electric vehicle combusting after coming into contact with salt flood water.

“That’s water beneath a Tesla, salt water from flood apparently," Mr Blair told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“What happens when batteries get corrupted or compromised when there are cracks in sealed battery containers, and they get exposed to salt water - well, this is a reaction.

“Quite a few houses have gone lately in the flooded areas of the United States; it’s the sort of thing that doesn’t happen in Australia.”
