Every week, Team Protocase is bringing you a Proto Tech Tip video, where we'll give an informative look at a particular aspect of sheet metal fabrication and CNC Machining.
This week, Jordan is back to talk about a specific bare-metal finish for your CNC and sheet metal parts called media blasting.
No finish CNC machined parts have no additional finishing applied, so you’re going to get the as-is appearance of the part once it has gone through the CNC mill. There will be visible toolpath patterns, as well as possible minor scratches.
Media blasting is a process that we offer that creates a uniform finish on the bare metal that removes the toolpath patterns as well as any scratches or blemishes.
While media blasting is most common for CNC parts, the finish can also be applied to sheet metal parts as well.
