✨ I’ve always loved Harapan Ong’s “The Card Across” from his book “pRinCipiA”.
While this piece steps away from the classic approach to a “Cards Across” effect, it still beautifully maintains the essence: a card travels from one packet to another. I’ve also added the presentation of the Tin Can Telephone game, which fits perfectly with this piece!
In traditional “Cards Across” routines, at least two of the following elements are often present:
1. The spectator verifies an increase in the number of cards in the receiving packet, previously counted and secured (sometimes with a rubber band), and the origin packet is often checked to confirm the absence of the cards before showing they’ve traveled.
2. The number of traveling cards is usually determined randomly.
3. One or more selected cards travel, and the effect is confirmed by counting the receiving packet and revealing the extra cards as the chosen ones.
Regardless of these formalities, though, this piece stands out—it’s beautiful and visually powerful. What are your thoughts on this interpretation? Let’s chat about it in the comments! 👇
