Immediately after Typhoon Odette wreak havoc in Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao regions, our team went to one of the most depressed areas in Surigao, Barangay Sabang.
We distributed over 500 relief bags that could feed a family of 5 for 2 days and gave out 6 gallons of drinking water. Aside from this, we gave 150 solar-powered flashlights and have shipped generator sets which are much needed since power has not been restored due to the devastation.
This week we will be sending almost 1000 relief bags to Cebu, Danao, Mandaue, and Hinunangan (Southern Leyte). Our next phase in disaster response is to give roofing and building materials and help build people's homes in Surigao.
We would like to thank New Life Cagayan de Oro for their quick response in assembling all the relief bags; New Life Balingasag for transporting all the relief bags in a dump truck; New Life Butuan for extending help to our pastors in New Life Surigao whose home was severely damaged. We'd like to thank Airasia Phil and Airspeed as well for partnering with us in transporting our team and shipping the generators.
