Bear Facts The Sloth bear is found in tropical and Dry Deciduous jungles of India. The animal is seen solitary but in pairs during breeding. Being omnivorous by nature it is exceptionally fond of honey, ants, and insects like the termites. It frequents trees with honeycombs and termite mounds. The bear is also fond of Tendu fruits besides others. It is also seen eating carrion or a kill made by the tiger in India. It is a furry animal like the tiger and needs to maintain temperature by drinking at waterholes and by panting. It is often seen foraging for insects in open grasslands and scrubs especially those with a large number of anthills. It is a shy animal but is known to encounter humans and kill them though this is very rare.
