The United Nations Department of Peace Operations and the Permanent Missions of Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay to the United Nations organized a virtual side event on "Unarmed Approaches to Protection of Civilians in UN Peacekeeping" to kick off the 2021 Protection of Civilians (PoC) Week on May 24, 2021
The event featured MONUSCO SRSG Bintou Keita as keynote speaker, as well as a panel of personnel from POC-mandated peacekeeping missions, with a discussant from civil society in a peacekeeping context, followed by a moderated Q&A discussion.
