(27 Aug 2015) Three people, including a 10-year-old, were killed on Thursday in clashes between Turkish security forces and Kurdish rebels in the southeastern city of Cizre, according to Turkey's state-run agency.
Anadolu Agency said the fighting erupted after rebels of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers's Party, or PKK, attacked a military outpost with rocket launchers and long-barrelled weapons.
Seven others, including three soldiers, were also wounded in the fighting, Anadolu said.
More than 100 people — mostly soldiers and police — have been killed since July in renewed conflict between the PKK and security forces.
The fighting has wrecked a two-and-a-half-year peace process with the Kurds coming at a time when Turkey faces additional pressure from Islamic State militants operating on its border with Syria.
