The electoral system of single member districts, or SMD’s, is being hotly debated in Poland at the moment. Especially that the Poles will have to shortly decide whether they want it or not to be adopted for their main elections to the lower house of parliament, the Sejm. This is going to be one of 3 questions in a national referendum scheduled for September. In order to find out what possible implications this may have for Polish political life Michał Owczarek spoke to Paweł Kawarski of The Madison Foundation that fosters the single member district system for Poland.
